Why does Scoop need my credit card?

For each carpool, Riders contribute towards the cost of the commute and Drivers get reimbursed. When you schedule as a Rider for the first time, we will ask you to provide a valid credit or debit card* before you can take the carpool.

There is no subscription cost with Scoop and you are only charged for the rides you take. Charges are processed on a weekly basis and until then your Scoop balance might show as negative. Learn more about how to view your Scoop Balance.

*You'll want to make sure your payment type is not a prepaid or temporary debit or credit card, or a transit benefits card such as WageWorks, etc., as our system will not allow this payment type.
