The Commute Hero Program is currently available on select routes and allows you to earn Carpool Credits for trip requests in which you are not matched in a carpool.
Commute Hero Program Eligibility
Commute Hero eligibility is determined by a variety of factors such as your monthly request volume, your route, and how often you match. Eligibility is renewed on a monthly basis, so you may qualify over time as you continue to use Scoop. You'll see a card in your "Scoop Stream" during the months you're eligible. Carpoolers must be eligible for the Commute Hero Program to qualify for weekly benefits.
When you carpool as a Driver, you receive 1 Carpool Credit for every unmatched trip request in a qualifying week (see weekly criteria below), up to 3 Carpool Credits/week. When you carpool as a Rider, you receive 1 Carpool Credit for every unmatched AM trip request in a qualifying week, up to 3 Carpool Credits/week.
Note: The Commute Hero Program does not reimburse unmatched PM trip requests for Riders as those trip requests are typically covered under the Guaranteed Ride Home Program.
How to qualify for Carpool Credits when you're a Commute Hero
Carpool Credit reimbursements for unmatched trip requests occur on a weekly basis. To qualify for these Carpool Credits in a given week, you must schedule a minimum of 6 trips in that week each with a minimum time window of 30 minutes. An unmatched trip request must have a minimum time window of 30 minutes to be eligible for reimbursement. Trips in which you match via the Shortlist are not eligible for reimbursement.
Reimbursements to your Scoop account occur on the weekend directly following a qualifying week. Carpool Credits from the Commute Hero Program expire in 2 months if there is no trip activity.
Example: In a given week in which you're an eligible Commute Hero, you schedule 9 trip requests with a 60-minute time window. You are unmatched in 2 of the trip requests. Since the weekly criteria are met, you receive 1 Carpool Credit for each unmatched trip request.
